Appalachian Trail

Our hotel started out in 2004 hosting Appalachian Trail thru-hikers. Each year thousands of hikers start the trail, and each year only hundreds finish. It’s a long journey. But you don’t have to do it all at once.

Barefoot Hills Hotel can shuttle hikers through the Georgia section of the Appalachian Trail. “Slackpacking” as it were. And we’ve got packages to make the journey through Georgia a little easier.

Amicalola Falls State Park

Amicalola Falls State Park is located about 40 minutes from Barefoot Hills. It’s where many hikers start their Appalachian Trail adventure. The park is extremely scenic, including an incredible water fall.

Cycling

We host hundreds of cyclists annually and we’re happy to help you plan your routes. The North Georgia mountains offers lots of elevation change without having to adapt to altitude, so it’s the perfect place to train. Dahlonega is home to the Six Gap Century and Three Gap 50. This popular century road ride boasts over 11,000′ of climbing!

We’re available for individual cyclists as well as clubs, organizations and training camps.

The 6 Gap Century
